Congratulations :)

I might be jumping the gun a little bit, but I wanted to say a big congratulations to everyone who’s worked so hard on making Fedora 9 as good as it is! A quick read through of Planet shows it’s not just me who thinks this, and every review I’ve seen so far has been extremely positive so there’s plenty of reasons to be proud.

To me it will be the best fedora release so far if only because of the ability to have the whole root system encrypted right from the installer without having to juggle with the partitions and command line. As a laptop user I can’t live any more without the whole encrypted system feature. Just having the /home encrypted doesn’t cut it when you think about all the temporary files and so on that are created elsewhere.

The performance hit is extremely negligible compared to having your data safe from the thieves. I can’t believe Microsoft didn’t put this feature into the home version of Vista as if the home user should have no privacy expectation. Yet another reason to love Linux.
