One of the strangest things about student life is that the build up to Christmas starts a little early as you wish to share some of the seasonal joy with the people you live with for half the year. As a result, me and my house mates have just been shopping for the ingredients to make a lovely Christmas dinner for ourselves this evening, and I can’t wait to get cooking!
I’m intrigued to see how it will all turn out as none of us have ever cooked an entire bird before. I’m also excited to take another crack at getting the roast potatoes perfect because last time I boiled them too long so they were way too soft and couldn’t be rolled around in the fat properly to brown
Besides these two staples, we have parsnips, carrots, peas, and sausagemeat stuffing (which we still need to make). The desert is going to be a little less traditional since we don’t have the time to make a proper Christmas pudding, so we’re just making an apple crumble instead (no complaints from me!)
We even have crackers and a giant jar of handpicked traditional sweets I bought as a present for the house… Mint humbugs and turkish delight!!

Sweets!
As a brief aside, I’ve been MIA from Fedora lately as 2nd year has been a lot more intense. The last two weeks I’ve been trying to clear all my work due to be handed in after Christmas so I can use that time for revision, family and friends instead, so it’s been even more hectic than usual! One more week until I get home though (can’t wait!!!), one more week of hard work (which I’m relaxing in preparation for today) and then I can spend some time getting back to normal routines. I have been following mailing lists and planets though, and have voted in the elections.
Anyhow, early Christmas wishes to all!
